FORGOTTEN GOD, PART 2.

"All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you." - John 14:25-26

Once upon a time back in high school I had the "brilliant" idea that I could eliminate studying for exams at home by listening really intently during class lectures (FYI- this was out of laziness not time efficiency). This method may have worked for some"lucky ducks" out there but it did not work for me. I quickly found out that it was not one way or the other, rather it was BOTH. I could not pick and choose because I was the type of student who 'scratched & clawed' for every "B" and "C" through intense studying in and outside of class. When it comes to the Holy Spirit, many Christians misunderstand Him in a fashion similar to my failed theory on "the art of studying."

Tragically, many professing Christ-followers live spiritually inconsistent lives flooded with the sour aroma of joylessness and defeat. Here's a strong dose of truth for today: The Holy Spirit makes His home inside Christ-followers for the purpose of DEEP and UNCOMPROMISING intimacy. This is the road that leads to "Christ-like" Christianity which every serious believer desperately covets (AKA- "Biblical Christianity").

Jesus says in John 14 that He still has a lot to say to the disciples but His time on earth is coming to an end (the crucifixion was just over the horizon). It is at this point that we see Jesus make the most incredible promise that should knock all Christ-followers from their feet! It's the promise of the Holy Spirit! (fulfilled in Acts 2). Let me ask you something, believer: When was the last time you walked through an entire day submitting, being led, and hearing clearly from the Holy Spirit?

Although He lives inside every Christ-follower He doesn't FILL you through osmosis. Rather, in His sovereignty, He invites Christ-followers to actively seek Him in a personal, not "religious," manner. This means when you read His Word and pray it's not out of duty. Instead, it's out of a desire to fall deeper in love with the God of the universe who first loved you! This process (sanctification) is a consistent walk, not a one time "business transaction" when you "get saved." Therefore, instead of relying on your own limited and feeble human understanding, choose to walk in step with the Holy Spirit on a moment by moment basis. Let Him transform you and He'll take you to unimaginable places in Your Christian walk as described in the Bible.
